This is something tricky . I came across a user who was not able to switch to explorer view .
Gets an error - "Please wait while Explorer View is loaded. If Explorer View does not appear, your browser may not support it".
I checked and confirmed that the site was added to the trusted sites .Did a reset of IE to the factory settings .
The Machine that i was facing a problem with was Windows 2003 With IE 8 However got to know that it also an issue when the machine has XP with SP3with IE8
Resolution - You need to start the Web Client service
1. Go to START > RUN
2. Type services.msc
3. Locate the Web Client service
4. Go to the properties and make sure startup is set to Automatic.
5. If the service is already stopped, you'll have to START the service after setting to Automatic.

This did not fix the problem. I tried setting it to automatic and restarting it. I have one web application that I can open the library in windows explorer and one web application that I cannot open in windows explorer. They are both the same version on the same farm. This problem has been a tough one for me to figure out. Any help would be appreciated. Both sites had been upgraded from 2007 to 2010. Office web apps works fine on both and upload multiple documents works fine.
ReplyDeleteHi ,
ReplyDeleteOk so you tried the steps . let me know what version of office you have 2007 /2010 and with which Service pack . also let me know if you have both on the same machine .
Try running a Repair of Office and check if the issue is resolved .
I have Office 2010. I fixed my issue of not being able to upload multiple documents by repairing office yesterday.
ReplyDeleteBut that did not fix the open in explorer view issue. Why does it work on one web application and not another.
Konnie
See if it is related to one web application it may sound silly but create a new web application and attach the content database to it .
DeleteAlso before you do that you can run the force upgrade command on the server
psconfig.exe –cmd upgrade –inplace v2v –passphrase < passphrase > –force
FYI, libraries that I create using PowerShell do not appear in Explorer View. I wonder if that's your problem.
ReplyDeleteHi Sushant,
